No School on Friday, October 27th 2023.

This week third grade was invited downtown to view an art exhibit by Chrissy Kutz and Robin Oldham. We saw a lot of unique and creative pieces.

All students will be dismissed at noon today.

Second graders in Ms. Vaughn's class learned about spooky spiders during our virtual lab with Greenbush. Students got to melt a sugar cube and eat like a spider. Afterwards, we designed our own spiders.

Ms. Vaughn is beaming with pride to announce that James has leveled up in Xtra Math. He has passed subtraction and will start multiplication. #goalgetter

Afternoons are so much fun when we can sit together and read a chapter book! Mrs. Tierney's class is reading Horrible Harry and the Ant Invasion. Students take turns reading aloud to the class. The hardest part is when we have to stop for the day. These kids love to read!

These two have been working so hard on their Accelerated Reader goals! Allayna has now surpassed the second grade goal of 50 AR points. Tayleigh is not far behind with well over 30 points! Mrs. Tierney has challenged students to get 30 by Christmas to earn a Happy Meal!

Friday morning started off so sweet! First some STEM bin fun and then donuts for snack provided by one of the class parents.

Mrs.Waun is so proud of Junior for earning an 100% on his progress monitoring assessment! This is a test on the reading skills that we have worked on during the past two weeks!

Kiera is the first student in Mrs.Waun's class to pass all of her multiplication facts!!! Good job!

Lunchtime Karaoke @ Garfield!
Oh yeah, it's a thing 🥰

Lunchtime Karaoke!

REMINDER! - there will be no after school AIR @ Garfield this coming Monday, October 23rd, or Wednesday, October 25th because of Parent Teacher Conferences!

Be sure to visit the Public Safety Fair tomorrow from 10am to 4pm at the Parsons Conference Center.

Thank you Kevin Cruse for coming to Garfield to explain to our 3rd graders your role as the mayor of Parsons! The students have spent the past two weeks learning about voting! This was a great way to end our unit!!

Amillya is my sunshine student of the week!! She is always working hard and trying her best!!

On Friday Mrs. Tierney's class made apple sauce and had apple turnovers. The students each peeled an apple and got to snack on a few rings from it while the rest was put in the crock pot to cook. The turnovers were made in an air fryer and our room smelled so good!

The applesauce was very tasty! As apples were peeled and cored we saved all of the scraps. We learned about ways to use all of the scraps. We talked about how composting is one way to reuse scraps. Our scraps were shared with Mrs. Tierney's chickens, turkeys, ducks and goats.
