Third grade students enjoyed going to see the Stella Wells trees and learning about the history of it.
Garfield 3rd grade students got a lesson in charitable giving as they visited the PACF's Giving Tuesday event . Students talked to representatives of the many worthy causes in the county and chose ones that stood out to them that they believed should share in special PACF funds.
Mrs.Waun's students started learning about the different holidays around the world! Today they learned about Hanukkah and ended the day learning how to play dreidel!
Today the third graders were invited to participate in a Giving Tuesday at the LCC Event Center! It was a great experience for the students!

Happy Thanksgiving from Ms. Pollard's crew!
Last week we said farewell to Miss Trimble. She has spent time observing in our class as part of her education degree. The students fell in love with having her in our class. She will be missed! She is patient and kind and will be a fantastic teacher!
Even during a short 2 day school week students were working hard and crushing goals! Coen finished 3 second subtraction in Xtra Math and is staring multiplication. Jaxon and Kylie met their end of year AR goal! Another student met his this afternoon as well. Picture coming soon!
We celebrated friendship and being thankful by making pumpkin pie in a cup today in class. It was a little messy but oh, so sweet! There were sprinkle filled smiles all around! Happy Thanksgiving!
Today was the 67th day of school and we spent the day learning and playing using 67 as our theme. It was a fun day filled with a lot of laughter!
We are 67 days smarter! Six seven is what all the cool kids are saying and this class is the coolest! We had tons of fun celebrating the 67th day of school in true six seven style! They started the day practicing addition strategies using a worksheet where every answer was 67.

Thank you to the Parsons Rotary Club for their annual donation of a dictionary for every third grade student.
Students in Ms. Perez, Ms. Wright, and Mrs. Liska's classes enjoyed a playdate at the park for participating in the Garfield Food Drive challenge. Their classes all brought in a huge donation of food items and they tied for second place in the challenge.
Mrs. Tierney's students brought in the most food during the Garfield Food Drive challenge and were rewarded with teas from BetterLife Nutrition today. Thank you Briget for supporting our students.
The kids last week learned about the building materials and ways buildings are made stronger, this week they had two challenges: one was to build a tower 12” tall with out it falling out of 20 notecards and 16 paper clips and two was to build a tower 6” tall that could support the weight of a hardback book without it falling using only 20 notecards and 16 paper clips. We had lots of giggles and laughter while figuring out how to improve our design.
Third grade students were presented with personalized dictionaries by the Rotary Club. The students were very excited about these and enjoyed learning how to look up different things. Their favorite part was trying to pronounce the longest word in it. A huge thank you to the Rotary Club!
