We had a great time at Greenbush. Students learned about rocks and then they had to work as a team to build a shelter with only three materials to withstand an earthquake simulator.

200 AR points!

Greenbush was a great experience for our second graders today. They learned so much about the earth and how the earth is changed.

Students learned about different types of rocks, classified by how they were formed. They got to examine them in a few different ways.

After learning about rocks students were tasked with building a structure that could withstand a simulated earthquake. They worked in pairs and did an amazing job.

Teamwork is an important skill and today was all about teamwork. Students also learned about the Engineering Process as they worked through their task of the day at Greenbush.

Lots of learning and lots of fun was had with 2nd grade at Greenbush!

During October, Koleman and Lucus were "caught" being kind to others and their peers nominated them for Ms. Ryan's Kindness Challenge. October's challenge involved students nominating other students for their kind acts. The nominees were put into a drawing and these two awesome young men were selected and got to pick a happy meal for their lunch with Ms. Ryan

Lunch dates with the Counselor are some of Ms. Ryan's favorite days of the week.

During November, Mrs. Liska, Ms. LaRae, and Paityn were "caught" being kind to others. Students and staff nominated them for Ms. Ryan's Kindness Challenge. November's challenge involved students and staff recognizing others for their kind acts. More pictures to follow of our other winners.

During Ms. Ryan's counseling lesson recently, students had to work together to build a cup tower without touching the cups. This activity focuses on the importance of communication

Mr. Tierney challenged her class to surpass their monthly AR goal by reaching 30 points by winter break. These 7 reading rockstars have met the challenge! Their next goal is to reach 50 points! It won't take them long!

In science Mrs. Tierney's class is starting to learn about the earth's surface. Today they learned that rivers flow towards the ocean and that they begin where there are high places like mountains. They learned this through a hands on activity where they made their own model.

To end our graphing unit students made bar graphs using skittle colors. Then they wrote challenging questions for their classmates to answer.

Garfield school students took a field trip Friday to see all of the Stella Wells Christmas Trees to be auctioned. They were surprised to see all the different trees and learn about the auction. They picked their favorite tree. Garfield and Parsons Middle School were top favorites
