Mr. Peak came to Garfield today to talk to second and third graders about digital citizenship and online safety. Mrs. Tierney’s students were very excited for him to come and talked a lot about eBay they learned the rest of the day.

More pairs of students working hard to code their robots to move through the halls. As they learn more about coding they will face obstacle courses with their robots. Some students even decided to try to race their robots. It was a fun STEM activity.

In STEM Mrs. Tierney’s students were introduced to Botley the coding robot. We learned about what coding was and students first practiced by ‘coding’ their teacher. They led her across the classroom carpet, one square at a time to reach the goal. They did great!

Today’s science lesson in Mrs. Tierney’s class taught us why snow is white. We learned about snowflakes and how they are all unique. We also learned about symmetry. Students then used geo boards to make their own snowflakes.
