More pairs of students working hard to code their robots to move through the halls. As they learn more about coding they will face obstacle courses with their robots. Some students even decided to try to race their robots. It was a fun STEM activity.
In STEM Mrs. Tierney’s students were introduced to Botley the coding robot. We learned about what coding was and students first practiced by ‘coding’ their teacher. They led her across the classroom carpet, one square at a time to reach the goal. They did great!
Students in Ms. Vaughn’s class learned if you touch the plasma ball, all of the electrons will go through you to the ground. Science is cool!
Students in Ms. Vaughn’s class learned about all things electrical this week. They experienced if you touch the plasma ball, all of the electrons will go through you to the ground.
Here are some more of Mrs. Tierney’s students who created snowflake designs using geo boards after learning about symmetry, snowflakes, and what makes snow white. This activity was so much fun!
Today’s science lesson in Mrs. Tierney’s class taught us why snow is white. We learned about snowflakes and how they are all unique. We also learned about symmetry. Students then used geo boards to make their own snowflakes.
Students worked in pairs to write code that would make Botley move through the hallways. They even made him dance!

Check out these great designs! These snowflakes were created after learning about symmetry, snowflakes and what makes snow look white.
Fun at the park!
We started out our new year in Mrs. Tierney’s class with a place value review page. The students colored in answers based on the answer key to reveal the numbers 2023 on their chart.
